Details -- Canto 1 (V073000535) -- 2 lasers/8 colors

The Canto 1 is sometimes referred to as a Canto A.  It is equipped with an HP xw4400 workstation using Windows XP and FACSDiva software, Version 6.1.3 (build 2009.05.12.13.29).  Firmware 1.11, CST 1.1.3, PLA 1.1.3.

The Canto 1 has BD’s QC protocol (CST – Cytometer Setup and Tracking) run on it daily to verify CVs and trends in performance. It is kept under BD service contract; so it receives preventative maintenance (PM) every 6 months and is kept to BD’s performance specs.  The machine is cleaned weekly. This cytometer was manufactured in March 2006 and put into service at the CIC in April 2006.

*in order to assist a subset of users with their work in macrophage studies, the Canto 1 currently has a BD 0.5 neutral density filter installed on the FSC detector.  This filter elevates the BrightBead CVs slightly.

Maintenance:

The CIC flow facility is run by Shawn “Trip” Gill, a Systems Engineer with 15 years of experience working with BD flow cytometers.

Basic reagents (sheath fluid, shutdown solution, FACSClean solution) are all BD products used within BD guidelines.
