General information about the UVA Cancer Center

Our team is behind you every step of the way

At the UVA Cancer Center we don't just treat diseases. We treat whole persons and entire families. We do this through a unique illness-specific team approach to care and an array of services for those who encounter one of life's greatest struggles - a battle against cancer.  Visit our team pages to learn more about our interdisciplinary approach.

A source you can trust

U.S. News & World Report has recognized us as one of the nation's top centers. Perhaps our proudest accomplishment is being rated #1 in Caring by our patients in UVa Patient Satisfaction scores.

As a "National Cancer Institute Designated Cancer Center" our goal is to deliver the cutting edge of cancer care, and also to create that cutting edge with novel research. Our leading programs in clinical research and discovery research are supported by over $75 million a year from the National Institutes of Health, the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society, and other agencies, as well as by philanthropy from friends and grateful patients. Over 100 scientists are involved in basic laboratory cancer research, and we have more than 80 open clinical trials to test new therapies in patients.
