Design and analysis of clinical trials
Gina R. Petroni, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology in the Department of Health Evaluation Sciences at the University of Virginia and Director of the Biostatistics Core for the UVA Cancer Center. Dr. Petroni received her Ph.D. in Biostatistics at the University of Michigan. Dr. Petroni's expertise is in the design and analysis of clinical trials and, data and safety monitoring. Since coming to UVA Dr. Petroni has helped foster the growth of the Cancer Center's clinical trial system. Through her collaborative work with Dr Slingluff and members of the Human Immunotherapy Center she has gained national recognition in the area of vaccine trials.
Dr. Petroni is the co-chair of the Cancer Center's Data and Safety Monitoring Committee, serves on external institutional and cooperative group Data and Safety Monitoring Boards, and has served as a member and ad hoc reviewer on NCI study sections. Most currently, she has been asked to serve as a member of NCI Subcommittee D - Clinical Studies. Dr. Petroni has collaborated with Dr. Conaway on statistical papers for the design of clinical trials, authored a book chapter in the Handbook of Statistics in Clinical Oncology, 2nd ed, edited by J Crowley and a chapter on design issues for vaccine trials to appear in Immunotherapy of Cancer, edited by N Disis.
