Head and Neck Care Team
The Head and Neck Care Team is dedicated to compassionate and expert care for all tumors that arise in the head and neck region: hypopharyngeal, laryngeal, squamous neck, nasopharyngeal, oral, sinus and nasal cavity, parathyroid, salivary and throat cancers. The Head and Neck Team aims to cure patients with head and neck cancers with as little toxicity and functional and cosmetic impairment as possible by combining multiple therapies including expert surgery, state-of-the-art radiation therapy techniques, and new chemotherapy drugs. Expert reconstructive services accompany surgical and radiation therapy treatment, with particular emphasis given to aesthetics and function as well as clinical success. Patients have many treatment options, including proven standard of care and cutting edge clinical trials.
The University of Virginia Cancer Center provides outstanding expertise in the area of Head and Neck cancers. The team is truly multi-disciplinary, with members including faculty from the department of otolaryngology, as well as medical oncology, pathology, radiation oncology and palliative, nursing and psychosocial staff. The Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery has been listed as one of the top 20 otolaryngology departments in the United States by U. S. News and World Report for the past 14 years.
The Head and Neck Program is part of the University of Virginia Cancer Center, which is a highly ranked National Cancer Institute designated Cancer Center.
