Gastrointestinal Care Team
The Gastrointestinal Care Team at the University of Virginia focuses on diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the gastrointestinal tract, including cancers of the pancreas, liver, stomach, bile duct, colon, and esophagus. In treating patients with these cancers, the Cancer Center draws on the strength of UVa's National Institutes of Health Digestive Disease Research Centers, one of only 16 in the nation. The team is comprised of gastroenterologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, pathologists and psychosocial and palliative care experts. This team of dedicated health care professionals provides highly specialized expertise in difficult to treat GI cancers, while also participating in a robust colorectal cancer awareness outreach program.
The Gastrointestinal Cancer Team is part of the University of Virginia Cancer Center, which is a highly ranked National Cancer Institute designated Cancer Center.
