Research Opportunities in the Myles H. Thaler Retrovirus Center
Viral and Cellular Post-Transcriptional Regulation of RNA
Several training and research opportunities are available in the laboratories of Drs. Marie-Louise Hammarskjöld and David Rekosh. We are looking for talented and motivated individuals with a passion for doing research in the areas of cell and molecular biology and virology. Our laboratories have an emphasis in the general area of post-transcriptional gene regulation and the specific project can be fine-tuned to fit the interests and qualifications of the applicant. Positions are available at the postdoctoral level for individuals with a PhD, or at the research assistant level for individuals with MS/MA degrees, in microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology or related fields. Our current specific areas of interest include: the role of NXF proteins in cellular mRNA export, neuronal trafficking and translation; cytoplasmic functions of Sam68 and WT1; the role of intron retention in development, with a focus on neuronal systems; the function of the Rev protein as a mediator of HIV RNA export and translation; Rev variation in HIV strains and its relationship to function.
