Statewide Tornado Drill (3/12/13)
Tornadoes are not uncommon in Virginia, and affect all parts of the
state. On March 12, UVA and other state and local government
agencies practiced their tornado emergency plans. Our community
was notified by Alertus Desktop Alert, SMS and e-mail messages
generated by UVA Alerts, and the University's PA speakers - as would
occur in the event of a real tornado.
Whether you are at work or at home, please be sure that you and your
family know what to do and where to go during a tornado. Consider
making a family emergency plan (for more, see www.ReadyVirginia.gov).
