Students & Mentors: A Team Approach
Selecting a mentor is a key step in your success as UVA MSTP students. All first and second year medical students are required to complete at least 2 summer lab rotations before transitioning into a graduate program. These rotations are essential in helping you find a mentor who is conducting research in a field that interests you. The MSTP directors take all the care and time necessary to assist you in finding the right lab and this often is a hot topic during the monthly lunch meetings. The Program Director and Associate Directors screen each of our 150 approved mentors very carefully.
