Center for Cell Clearance (CCC) at the University of Virginia
Welcome to the Center for Cell Clearance (CCC) at the University of Virginia
Every day, we turnover 100-200 billion cells in the body. The prompt and efficient clearance of such apoptotic, aged or superfluous cells is fundamentally important for us to maintain homeostasis and for preventing autoimmunity and other chronic inflammatory diseases. The field of apoptotic cell clearance is young, exciting and rapidly growing. This Center for Cell Clearance attempts to link investigators working on apoptotic cell clearance, with the aim of achieving greater overall success in the field than might be realized by the isolated efforts of individual investigators.
The goals of the CCC are: (i) to integrate and enhance the research efforts on apoptotic cell clearance within the University of Virginia, and (ii) to provide a forum for investigators from around the world to seek information, reagents and advice from others working in the field, and to foster collaborations. This website provides links to the list of investigators working in the engulfment of apoptotic cells both within UVA and outside, commonly used protocols, papers of interest and other related information.
Thank you for visiting CCC!
