PCEP
Continuing education credit is available for every perinatal health care provider who studies the Perinatal Continuing Education Program (PCEP) books. The American Medical Association’s AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ (CME credits) are available to physicians. Contact hours are available to nurses, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, respiratory therapists, and any other healthcare professional that provides care to pregnant women or newborn babies. Each contact hour is equivalent to 0.1 continuing education unit (CEU). The PCEP Continuing Education online evaluation system allows participants of the PCEP program to obtain either CME credits or continuing education contact hours for submission to professional organizations to satisfy their continuing education requirements.
Click here to proceed directly to the PCEP Unit Tests and Book Exams. NOTE: It is expected that you will complete all practice unit tests and book exams using Internet Explorer. If a different browser is used we cannot guarantee the validity of scores. Book exams and practice unit tests must be completed in one session; learners cannot save their work or suspend progress. Please do not start an exam unless you have time to complete and submit it.
How to Get CME Credits or Contact Hours
Contact hours or CME credits are awarded after paying a $15 fee, completing and passing a book exam at 80% correct, and completing a course evaluation form. There is a separate book exam for each of the four books (and separate corresponding $15 fee). Each book exam is based on the practice unit tests.
To prepare for the book exam each PCEP participant should study the material of each unit and then take the practice unit test for that unit. Practice unit tests can be repeated as many times as desired. No fee is charged for completion of these tests but you must be registered on the website. When ready to take the book exam click on the link to ‘Book Exam and Certificate’. Participants must pay the $15 fee prior to starting the book exam.
After passing the book exam at a level of 80% correct or greater, PCEP participants must choose to Display Certificate and print it at that time, otherwise they will not have access to their certificate at a later point. The certificate lists the number of contact hours or CME credits earned.
