  • The NxGen Journal Club: Developed in 2009 to prepare UVa SOM faculty to teach in the new curriculum, this series brings interested parties together on a monthly basis to discuss teaching, research, and other topics in medical education. Access is available on this site to all articles reviewed since 2009. Unless otherwise noted, the NxGen Journal Club meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 12-1 pm in the Health Sciences Library rooms 1331/1333. Lunch is served but registration is required.   • Excellence in Medical Education Faculty Development Certificate Program: This series is presented in collaboration with the Academy of Distinguished Educators. Faculty, staff, and residents who attend 10 workshops over a two-year period with received a Certificate of Commitment to Faculty Development in Medical Education. The certificates can be included as part of the Teaching Portfolio, which in turn can be used for purposes of application for membership to the Academy of Distinguished Educators and/or as part of the portfolio for promotion and tenure. To date, more than 20 individuals have earned this certificate. The site includes PowerPoint presentations for the series since its inception.   • Medical Education Grand Rounds: This occasional series brings nationally and internationally recognized experts here to UVa SOM to speak on various topics in medical education.
