- The committee was reminded of the Open House scheduled for
Wednesday 1/12/00 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in Primary Care
Center Classroom A. An e-mail announcement will be sent to all
faculty.
- Reid Adams suggested that we invite Doug Newberg and Kirk Tribble
who manage the Surgery clerkship to address the Curriculum Committee at
a later date regarding innovative teaching methods and including
faculty development.
- The final version of the Strategic Steps to a 2020 Curriculum of
Excellence has been approved by Dean Carey. A copy was distributed
to the Curriculum Committee and will be sent to Mair Devoursney to be
included in the School of Medicine Strategic Plan.
- Steve Meixel and the working group for the Practice of Medicine
Course presented their preliminary plan and detailed the first five
weeks of the course. The Curriculum Committee enthusiastically approved
of their work. The group was instructed to continue the process in
detail for the remaining weeks of the first semester and think broadly
about the first two years of medical school. Work will continue at the
Principles of Medicine Retreat to be held 1/15/00 in Jordan Hall
classrooms 2A,2B and 2C from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
