Learning Opportunities through the
CSCAT
Predoctoral and
Postdoctoral
study and research experiences are available through CSCAT's CAM
Clinical Research Program, depending upon positions and availability of
funding. Predoctoral trainees must be enrolled in a clinically-related
doctoral program at the University of Virginia. See CAM Research
Training Program for details.
Short-term learning opportunities at the University of Virginia for
undergraduate and graduate students through the CSCAT are many and
varied. Students have an opportunity to:
- assist with the creation and maintenance of a literature
database;
- participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of
collaborative studies with interdisciplinary researchers and scholars
in academic and service settings;
- screen and schedule patients to participate in selected
studies;
- code and analyze pilot data for research projects;
- work with other students, pre- and postdoctoral fellows, and CSCAT
faculty and collaborators in implementing research
protocols;
- examine the potential role of selected CAM practices and products
in bringing about improved physical and psychological functioning and
health-related quality of life for individuals; and
- participate in the development of CSCAT-initiated grant proposals
aimed to sustain CSCAT funded studies and the center
infrastructure.
