Webinar for Early Childhood Professionals
Background:
Poisoning is a leading cause of injury, illness, and death in people of
all ages. Poisoning touched the lives of nearly 65,000 Virginians in
2012. Half of all calls were about children under age 6. This webinar
hopes to decrease the number of poison injuries in children by offering
information and classroom resources to childcare providers, preschool
teachers, and other adults who work with young children in the Blue
Ridge Poison Center coverage area of Virginia. The BRPC serves all of
Southwestern VA, the Shenandoah Valley, and parts of Central VA.

Praise for the program:
“The program [Blue Ridge Poison Center Educator] Kristin Wenger offers provides valuable information to early childhood professionals to help avoid poisoning injuries. She presents this information in a fun format and provides a variety of materials and lesson plans so teachers can help children and families learn the steps they can take to prevent serious injuries from poisoning. My students report that they learn a tremendous amount about poison prevention from her class, and they love the educational materials she provides. I would recommend this class to every early childhood professional.”
