Nearly breathless, searching,
Anxious about what may be found.
Finding her there
Prostrate, scarcely clinging to life.

We are met with the acrid stench of despair
And the smoldering embers of dreams in her eyes.
Family encompasses her.
A father lost.
A brother departed.
A son called Home.
A husband beyond the grasp of
His wife, demolished.
What is to be done?

As the code cart is silently whisked away
And with it a tattered, ragged hope
Crushed beneath the weight of Now and
Then's wretched pain emerging.
