Tiles . Samuel Andrew Taylor, Jr.

Teacup Universe . Tabor Flickinger

You live within the seamless rippled walls
Of porcelain, refined and smoothly white.
A powdering of dust that gently falls
From stale suspension drifting in the light,

Has settled on the curves enclosing you
And, undisturbed, it thickens every year
To coat your china kingdom. Only through
The safety of seclusion are you here.

Content to be confined in what you know,
You never look beyond the blank and cold.
But, curious and restless, I forego
Your blissful stupor, dead serenity,
And, clinging to the rim of painted gold,
I pull myself up over: I am free.

Thank You, 48 yo Down's Syndrome Woman . Carly Kreps

Your syncope prompted a thorough cardiac evaluation; you didn't understand what we were doing. You were confused and upset and your sisters took you home against medical advice. You were happy as the three of you left the hospital hand in hand in hand, showing no medicine makes you feel as good as your family.
