Looking the Wrong Way . Stephen D. Lee

My Last Patient Arrived Twenty-Five Minutes Late . Alexandra Nelson Iwashyna

"Hello. I'm your doctor and
I don't want to know about:

The new dog.
The new grandchild.
Your gouty toe.
The diet you've been
so faithful to.
How low your sugar's been.
All your exercise plans next week.
Your sleep habits.
The headache that went away
after ten minutes.
The ringing in your ear that happened
once two years ago.

I don't want to know your health
I don't want to know your hopes
I don't want to know your flaws
I don't want to know you.

It's 4:55 pm
and I just want to go home."
