Daniel M. Becker is the Director of the Center for Biomedical Ethics and Humanities, the Tussi and John Kluge Professor of Palliative Medicine, a Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Medicine, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care, and founding and current editor-in-chief of Hospital Drive.

Dr. Becker is studying the use of computer game technology to simulate difficult conversations between doctors and patients. He is also expanding a home visit program that allows medical students and residents to see patients who are too ill or disabled to travel.

He did his undergraduate work at the University of Pennsylvania, received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine, his M.P.H. at the Harvard School of Public Health and an M.F.A. from the writing program at Warren Wilson College. He has been with the University of Virginia since 1985.
