NIH/NHLBI, R01HL119218
Ex vivo perfusion in a lung box for rehabilitation of donor lungs.
Laubach and Kron (Multiple PI). 08/2013 – 07/2018.
This project studies the application of ex vivo lung perfusion with treatment with adenosine A2A receptor agonist in order to rehabilitate non-heart beating donor lungs for successful transplantation.

Pennsylvania Cystic Fibrosis, Inc (PACFI), Research Grant
Improving the success of lung transplantation for cystic fibrosis patients through pannexin 1-targeted therapy.
Laubach (PI). 1/2015 – 12/201
This grant explores the role of pannexin 1 (PanX1) in lung ischemia-reperfusion injury and tests if PanX1 inhibitors are therapeutic in preventing lung injury after transplantation.

NIH/NIGMS, R01GM114840
Muscle-mediated protection against MODS
Yang (PI), Laubach (Co-Investigator). 4/01/15 – 3/31/20
This collaborative project tests the hypothesis that enhanced EcSOD expression in skeletal muscle protects against MODS by reducing endothelium oxidative stress and activation in peripheral vasculature.

NIH/NHLBI, T32HL007849
CardioThoracic Surgery Training Center
Kron (PI). 07/2000 - 06/2020
This grant provides training of surgery residents in laboratory research with a goal of developing quality academic surgeons. This program entails close collaboration between basic scientists and surgical faculty. Salary for three surgery residents per year (for two years per resident) are provided.

Network for cardiothoracic surgical investigations in cardiovascular medicine
Kron (PI).  07/2007 – 06/2018
This proposal documents the contributions of the University of Virginia to the NHLBI/NINDS sponsored Network for Cardiothoracic Surgical Investigations in Cardiovascular Medicine (Network) and supports participation of the site as a Core Clinical Center within the Network going forward. A Skills Development Program is included with this proposal.
