2012-13 Categorical Surgical Interns

Eric Charles – Eric Charles completed his medical degree at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of AOA and was an Anatomy Medical Student Scholar. He received his undergraduate degree at Pennsylvania State University with a degree in bioengineering and a minor in Spanish. While at Penn State he was captain of the squash team. He is undecided at this time with regards to his ultimate career path in Surgery.

Cory Eymard- Dr. Eymard is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 2008. He was a member of the Medical School Admissions Committee and the Cabell Society during Medical School. He received his undergraduate degree majoring in English from Tulane University. Cory completed a Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Washington in Seattle and then chose to come into General Surgery. Dr. Eymard intends to pursue a professional career in academics and research in Oncology.

 

2012 Johnston L.jpgLily Johnston- Dr Johnston is a graduate of the University of California San Diego Medical School where she received her M.D. in 2012. She received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University majoring in neuroscience in psychology. She graduated summa cum laude and had an outstanding academic record. Dr. Johnston has had experience working for the U.S. Government Intelligence Community as a science and technology analyst. She is interested in a career in academic surgery.

 

2012 Schaheen B.jpgBasil Schaheen- Dr. Schaheen graduated in 2012 from the Jefferson Medical College of the Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He received numerous medical school awards including the McClellan Surgical Honor Society and the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism Honor Society Award. He was a member of AOA. Basil received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson where he also complied an excellent academic record. He has published several articles and presented at national meetings. Dr. Schaheen is interested in pursuing a career possibly in cardiovascular surgery.

Puja Shah- Dr. Shah is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School in Newark in 2012. She has been a member of the American Medical Women’s Association as a Medical Student. She received her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey majoring in cell biology and neuroscience. She was Dean’s List and graduated summa cum laude. She is interested in pursuing a career in Surgical Oncology and perhaps Colorectal Surgery.
