2012 Graduating Chief Residents
Dr. Paris Butler completed his Chief Residency this year and will be pursuing advanced training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He served as the Resident Representative to the Surgery Residency Committee of the ACGME. Dr. Butler received the All University Teaching Award this year as a Chief Resident and the Mulholland Society Award for his teaching efforts.
Dr. Lynn Dengel completed her Chief Residency this year in General Surgery. She will be pursuing her Fellowship in Breast Oncology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center under the direction of Dr. Monica Morrow. This is perhaps the most prestigious Breast Oncology Fellowship in the United States.
Dr. Jayme Stokes completed his Chief Residency in General Surgery this year in July 2012. He will be pursuing an Abdominal Transplant Fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Dr. Stokes and his wife Laura are expecting their first child this Fall. Dr. Stokes was a Research Fellow in Dr. Todd Bauer’s lab and published extensively on pancreatic tumor oncogenesis.
Dr. Matthew Taylor completed his General Surgery Chief Residency in June, 2012. He is staying here in Charlottesville and pursuing his General Thoracic Surgery Fellowship under the directorship of Dr. David Jones. Dr. Taylor completed his Research Fellowship in Dr. Jones’ laboratory and had an extremely productive publication record.
