| James M. Larner, M.D.
Professor and Chair, Radiation Oncology Contact, Bio, Publications » Dr. Larner is Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology and the primary radiation oncologist for the Neuro-Oncology Center and the Thoracic Oncology service at UVa. Dr. Larner specializes in radiotherapy for central nervous system tumors including radiosurgery, and lung cancers including high d ose, small volume treatments known as stereotactic body radiation therapy. His research focus is on increasing the effectiveness of radiation through new molecularly targeted agents. |

| Paul W. Read, M.D., Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology and Otolaryngology Contact, Bio, Publications » Dr. Read is an attending physician, Medical Director, and Residency Program Director for Radiation Oncology. Dr. Read specializes in treating patients with head and neck cancers, breast cancer, lymphomas, and skin cancer. His research interests include developing less toxic treatments for breast and head and neck cancer, integrating MRI into treatment planning, stereotactic body radiation therapy and adaptive radiation therapy. |

Monica Morris, M.D. Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology Dr. Morris joined UVa as an Associate Professor in 2009. She serves as the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology. Her practice is devoted to patient education, proactive care and management of malignancies of all sorts, with emphasis on those of the breast, lung and gastrointestinal tract. “I particularly love explaining complex medical concepts in plain English,” she says. Before coming to Charlottesville, Dr. Morris served for 12 years at VCU in Richmond, treating lung, breast and pediatric malignancies. She also served there as Residency Program Director, and has received national awards for the quality of her patient care. Dr. Morris is a native of Northern California. She received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biological Science from Stanford, and the M.D. degree in 1993 from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She completed her residency and Chief Residency at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital. She and her husband, Rick, have four teenaged children. Her hobbies are historic home rehabilitation, hiking, skiing, kayaking, weight lifting, and reading. |

Timothy N. Showalter Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology Contact, Bio, Publications » Dr. Showalter is an attending physician in the Department of Radiation Oncology. He specializes in genitourinary, gynecologic, pediatric, melanoma and sarcoma cancers. As a clinical researcher, Dr. Showalter is focused on improving outcomes for patients with high-risk prostate cancer, developing more effective and convenient radiation therapy schedules, and evaluating advanced technologies for brachytherapy and external beam radiation therapy. |
| Shiv Khandelwal, M.D., FACRO
Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology Contact, Bio, Publications » Dr. Khandelwal treats patients with radiotherapy for benign and malignant tumors of all types. His research interests include breast cancer and investigating the most effective ways to deliver radiation while minimizing damage to healthy tissues. He is currently the principal investigator in a pilot study of a new treatment for breast cancer. |

| Charles R. Kersh, M.D.
Adjunct Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology Contact, Bio, Publications » Dr. Kersh is an adjunct attending physician in the Department of Radiation Oncology. He sees patients in the Williamsburg Radiation Therapy Center and Riverside Regional Medical Center. He sees patients of all tumor types but specializes in Gamma Knife radiosurgery and body radiosurgery. |
