Serving Our Local Community

UVA Radiology and Medical Imaging has provided teleradiology services to our local Virginia community for the past 17 years. We were interpreting images “virtually” before the term “teleradiology” was a household name. Currently, we read for 26 facilities across the Commonwealth that include federally qualified health centers, urgent care facilities, critical access hospitals, department of corrections and clinics. The Department has 47 full-time radiologists who have clinical expertise in the following areas:

Angiography and Interventional Radiology

Breast Imaging

Musculoskeletal Imaging

Noninvasive Cardiovascular Imaging

Nuclear Medicine

Pediatric Imaging

Body Imaging

Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology

Sub-Specialized Radiologists

With 47 faculty members on staff, UVA Radiology and Medical Imaging can become an extension of your group. Difficult day cases can be readily interpreted by a highly trained sub-specialized radiologist allowing your physician to focus on other areas. Our “flex up” services allow you to expand and grow your practice without the worry of hiring a radiologist who may not stay busy and therefore not justify their expense.

“I am comforted by having the whole team of UVA sub-specialized radiologists on my staff. If I run into a difficult case by day, we simply send it to UVA and I know that our referring physicians will have their clinical question answered. Even though our hospital is very remote, we enjoy having the 'Best of the Best' on our team through UVA’s clinical expertise and comprehensive reports. This enhances our ability to provide optimal care for our patients, and I enjoy the extra subspecialty help from time-to-time.”
Dr. Dilip Patel, Chief Radiologist
Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy, VA

Ongoing Peer Review

Our faculty partakes in a robust, ongoing professional peer review of their practice and our peer review process meets and exceeds the requirements established by the American College of Radiology for accreditation. Discrepant interpretations are shared in an open forum for the benefit of each division of radiologists. This allows each physician to continuously learn and draw upon the myriad expertise within the department.

Joint Commission LogoDelegated Credentialing

Since UVA is Joint Commission Accredited, we can delegate our credentialing to you, so there is no need for your facility to fully credential our faculty physicians resulting in time and cost savings.
