Imaging Physics Specialist
(Private Inspector, State of Virginia License #RH-1-99-34)
William Dove joined the Department of Radiology in 2009 after many years as Radiation Therapy Service Engineer. He is an expert at dental X-ray tube inspections and serves as our interface to the assorted machine shops used for phantom fabrication or instrument repair. Lastly, Bill’s scope of work includes general radiography, angiography, and fluoroscopy X-ray machine inspections.
Lead Medical Physicist, Chair HIRE & RPE Committees of UVA
Radiation Safety Committee
(Private Inspector, State of Virginia License #RH-15-05-267)
Allen Goode is the Lead Medical Physicist and joined the department in 2003. Allen received his Masters Degree from the University of Virginia in Biomedical Engineering where his research efforts were focused on dedicated gamma camera imaging of the Breast. His research interests include operator and patient dosimetry during fluoroscopically guided interventions, image analysis, and image processing. Alan is active in the American Association of Medical Physicists (AAPM) and provides the physics curriculum for the Radiology Residents for board preparation and education. Lastly, Alan is also one of two qualified MQSA inspectors for the UVA Health System and is Board Certified in Diagnostic Medical Physics.

Patricia G. Judy, Ph.D.
(Private Inspector, State of Virginia License #RH-15-12-384)
Dr. Judy joined the Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging as a Diagnostic Medical Physicist in the fall of 2010, shortly after receiving her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia. As a graduate student she worked as a research assistant in the Department of Radiology, focusing on X-ray and nuclear medicine imaging of the breast and improved guidance techniques for breast surgery. Since joining the diagnostic physics group, Patty has broadened her scope of work to include general radiography, computed tomography (CT), angiography, fluoroscopy, and nuclear medicine. She is also actively involved in the Yittrium-90 microsphere program. Additionally, she provides instruction to the radiology residents in the areas of radiological physics and diagnostic imaging.
