Although Maecy has only been with the department for a short time, she has taken on duties outside of the Excelsior Program, such as effort reports for the department and pre-award grant related tasks.

Maecy enjoys taking on a variety of tasks to make each day interesting. She embraces the opportunity to learn new things as well as the opportunity to meet more people within the UVA community. Maecy was born and raised in Charlottesville and has watched UVA change and grow. "It has been really exciting being a part of this community."

Maecy returned to Charlottesville after earning both her Bachelor and Master degrees in Business Administration at Radford University. She has aspirations of earning a PhD, but is holding off for now to take a well deserved break from school.

During her free time Maecy enjoys being outdoors, whether it be camping, hiking, or just walking in the park with her fiancé, Brad, and their dog, Lola.  She also enjoys wine; going to wine tastings, finding new wines to pair with meals, and learning about wine history. And when she wants to take some time to herself and relax, she takes pleasure in reading books, especially anything by Augusten Burroughs or Alice Sebold.
