PM&R Resident Evaluation Grievance Process
To ensure proper resolution of disputes regarding evaluations and to ensure each PM&R resident evaluation is conducted in a fair and unbiased manner:

  • PM&R residents will be evaluated on areas pertinent to his/her performance of professional duties. Evaluations will include, but not be limited to, professional demeanor, clinical excellence, participation in program and medical center activities, responsibility and accountability, and professional interactions with allied health care staff, patients, patient family members, guests, and other university employees.
  • Evaluation forms will be turned over to the PM&R Residency Program Director (or designee).  Such evaluations will become a permanent part of the individual resident’s departmental personnel file.
  • Residents who believe an evaluation to be inaccurate or unjust may appeal the evaluation.  Any such appeal should be made in writing to the Program Director.
  • The Program Director will review all pertinent data and meet with the resident to discuss facts relevant to the appeal.
  • The Program Director will then meet with the evaluator to review the resident’s performance evaluation.
  • A final determination will be made by the Program Director as to whether the evaluation should be modified.
  • For any grievance dealing with the resident and the Program Director, please see the Housestaff Grievance policy.
