Yan appointed to MEDCAC
Associate Professor of Biostatistics Guofen Yan, PhD was recently invited to serve on the Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC) under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The MEDCAC was established in 1998 to provide expert advice to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on topics under review by Medicare.
"We have worked hard to identify persons who bring both superior qualifications and diverse points of view to make this a dynamic, cutting-edge advisory group," wrote CMS director Patrick Conway, MD, in the letter extending the appointment. "Your participation will bolster our chances of making that goal a reality."
The committee consists of a maximum of 100 members who are selected from among authorities in clinical and administrative medicine, biologic and physical sciences, public health administration, advocates for patients, health care data and information management and analysis, the economics of health care, medical ethics, and other related professions. Each year, 25 or less new members are appointed.
The voting-member appointment for Dr. Yan's current term is two years beginning January 1, 2013.
