Valdez Featured in AMIA Policy Video

Assistant Professor Rupa Valdez of the Division of Biomedical Information was recently featured in a video from the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) presented as part of the organization's Policy Invitational held in Washington, D.C. in December.

"As part of this initiative, AMIA produced a video" says Valdez, "which featured the thoughts and perspectives of several individuals on the topic of 'patient-centered care, collaboration, communication and coordination.' "

AMIA is the professional organization of "leading informaticians: clinicians, scientists, researchers, educators, students, and other informatics professionals who rely on data to connect people, information, and technology." The 2013 AMIA Policy Invitational focused on the policy issues related to enabling patient-centered care, collaboration, communication and coordination through informatics solutions. The interviews in this video were filmed during the AMIA 2013 Annual Symposium in Washington, DC and the video presented at the AMIA Policy Invitational on December 18-19, 2013 in Washington, DC. Patricia Flatley Brennan, PhD, RN Chaired the Invitational. The video was produced and directed by Dr. Ross D. Martin, Vice President of Policy and Business Development at AMIA.
