Background: The Program in Biomedical Ethics in the Center for Biomedical Ethics and Humanities offers interdisciplinary and interprofessional ethics education in a broad domain of topics including but not limited to clinical and research ethics, health policy, public health ethics, and health law. Approaches to education include a variety of formats and venues including seminars, clinical practicums, certificate programs, and directed independent research. Our faculty represents multiple disciplinary backgrounds including medicine, nursing, philosophy, law, religious studies, and public health. We offer graduate-level courses such as Foundations of Bioethics, Clinical Ethics, Law and Ethics of Human Subjects Research, Legal Issues at the End of Life, Disability Law and Ethics, and Independent Research in Ethics. We seek students from a wide array of disciplinary homes, and are committed to providing students with a collaborative learning environment that builds on diverse and creative relationships across the university.
