Pediatric Diabetes
Diabetes Clinics are held at the KCRC Outpatient Department and meet at 8AM Thursdays. This is an all day clinic. Directions
Responsibilities:
- Attend all clinics
- Pre-read on your assigned patients charts. Please know their disease, how they presented, initial work-up and most recent labs/bone age.
- Complete patient write-ups on patients you have seen.
- Initially leave discussion blank if important labs are pending. If all lab work is back during your rotation, complete the discussion and notify parents of results. If cases are difficult or labs are not back, I will do this. No abbreviations, please write/print legibly.
- Diabetes Clinic charts will be dictated by your attending.
Take advantage of free time to read! We don't expect you to become an endocrinologist in 2 weeks so concentrate on those things most important to your education in Pediatrics. We recommend the chapters in any pediatric text on growth, puberty, diabetes, and the thyroid. We will also try to give you pertinent handouts.
Feel free to ask questions anytime! Welcome!
