Expectations of Residents, Fellows and Faculty
Residents, fellows, and faculty play an invaluable role in the education of our medical students. This can include formal instruction, teaching as part of "rounds", informal bedside teaching related to a specific case, providing formative and constructive feedback to the students so that they can continue to improve, and serving as positive and professional role models. Residents, fellows, and faculty are expected to complete evaluations of students, including narrative comments, in a timely fashion.
Preceptor Education is a set of teaching modules about teaching, developed by the Department of Family Medicine at UVA for use by preceptors in office practice. Modules 2 through 5 may be useful for Pediatrics faculty and house staff.
The Stanford University School of Medicine clerkship evaluation tutorial is a website from Stanford containing tutorials about writing narrative evaluations.
