Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease

Leigh Grossman, MDOur division provides inpatient, outpatient and physician-to-physician telephone consultations for:

  • Primary infectious diseases such as bacteremia (blood stream infection), pneumonia, meningitis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
  • Complicated or prolonged infections
  • Infections in high-risk patients (immunocompromised, cancer, neonates, prematurity, surgery, trauma, pulmonary, cardiac or renal disease)
  • Infections in travelers, adopted children, and children from high-risk countries

The Division operates within an interdisciplinary team setting at the UVA Children's Hospital and the new Battle Building.
