Division of Adolescent Medicine

mclaren.jpgThe Division of Adolescent Medicine provides primary care, education and advocacy to male and female patients aged 12 to 24 years old. At the UVA Teen Health Center, we address typical adolescent health needs including body image, nutrition, mental health issues and risky behaviors such as substance abuse. We also offer a safe place for teens to discuss sexuality and concerns like birth control, pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

Our services are provided by a team of nurses, nurse practitioners, and physicians with a specialty in adolescent medicine. A social worker and a nutritionist are also available for individual counseling. Services offered include:

  • General medical care, routine check-ups and immunizations
  • Sports physicals
  • Gynecological care and birth control
  • Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections
  • Pregnancy testing and prenatal care with delivery at UVA
  • Mental health assessments
