We utilize several testing protocols, depending upon which study (if any) the patient's data is to be used with.
- An Initial Visit or Pre-Operative assessment includes kinematics, kinetics, EMG, spasticity testing, and Gross Motor Function Measures (GMFM) testing. Surface EMG electrodes are used to assess muscle function during ambulatory tasks. With the exception of some sticky tape, this is a painless process, and no skin penetration processes are used. The pre-op visit usually occurs one week to one month before the surgery date.
- Follow-up assessments are often scheduled on eighteen months to two year intervals, or one year after surgery.
