Planned Activities
General
- The four weeks are divided into two, 2-week clinical blocks. The first block begins on Monday of week #1 and ends on Friday of week #2. The second block begins Monday of week #3, and ends with the shelf exam in week #4.
- On the first day you have a morning orientation session and then will be released to join up with your assigned clinical teams.
- You have a clinical skills small group session one afternoon during the clerkship. Check your schedule for the dates.
- there will be one bioethics discussion session.
- You will participate in one of the multidisciplinary clinics.
- You are released from clinical service after fulfilling your patient care responsibilities the day before the shelf exam.
- You will have a practical exam over the neurological physical exam on the last Thursday afternoon of the clerkship.
- On the last day you will take a closed book NBME Neurology Subject Shelf Exam.
- You are expected to round with your assigned services each day that the service rounds, including weekends , and participate in all activities below. Students can expect one day off per week, and one full weekend off in each 4 week block (unless making up other absences).
- Attendance at all teaching activities is mandatory; and will be considered in the professionalism portion of your grade.

On-Line Neurology Cases by Week
On line cases are found on this website under Learning Materials. You are expected to complete the assigned common and emergency neurology on line cases each week and read the supplementary information assigned for the week. You will take a 25 question graded quiz every Friday during the rotation. The questions are based on the weekly assigned readings as well as the case based teaching modules you will find on the clerkship website.The following is a list of the cases, videos and assigned readings you are expected to complete each week.
Week 1
Cases:
- Common: Dizziness, sleep disorders, and neck and arm pain
- Emergencies: Acute ischemic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage and status epilepticus
