Mission Statement
The Research Management Office partners with all divisions of the UVA Department of Medicine to optimize resource management of clinical and basic/applied research projects. In pursuit of this goal, the RMO offers highly specialized, experienced professionals; a streamlined systems approach to work flow processes; remarkably expedient outcomes; exceptional customer service and a firm commitment to quality and stewardship to ensure overall operational excellence in research. Thus the RMO provides the foundation and synergy needed to strengthen the DOM clinical and scientific research platforms that will inspire new research endeavors, and excite our faculty and staff to be academic leaders in clinical innovation.
Vision Statement
The Research Management Office facilitates scientific research within the University of Virginia Department of Medicine through a two-fold approach. First, the RMO helps the DOM’s Principal Investigators, Clinical Research Coordinators, Grant Administrators, Lab Staff, and others to prepare, submit and maintain/manage grants, contracts, clinical trials, and other research activities at the University. Second, the RMO educates faculty and staff to address specific training and financial needs within DOM. Such education streamlines processes, provides consistency, promotes accountability, ensures compliance, and increases audit readiness in all areas of grant and clinical trial management. Via the two-fold approach, the RMO contributes to the Department’s success and enhances the work of DOM employees.
As a steward of sponsored projects and grant funding for the Department of Medicine, the Research Management Office identifies and adheres to best practices in grants and contracts administration. This includes upholding the highest standards of integrity and financial responsibility. In addition, the RMO proactively addresses administrative demands on investigators as they perform their state of the art biomedical research.
