Welcome

serpentinewall.jpgIn his vision for the University of Virginia, Thomas Jefferson stated in 1800,

“We wish to establish in the upper [of Virginia] and more centrally for the state a University on a plan so broad and liberal and modern as to be worth patronizing with the public support, and be a temptation to the youth of other States to come and drink of the cup of knowledge and fraternize with us.”

From Mr. Jefferson’s recruitment of Dr. Robley Dunglison, the first physician at the University of Virginia, the University of Virginia Health System has grown into Mr. Jefferson’s vision.  Included in this Health System is a comprehensive training program for fellows in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine that encompasses the knowledge and procedural skills to attain proficiency in clinical, research, and interpersonal aspects of these disciplines.  We extend to you Mr. Jefferson’s invitation to join us in the pursuit of knowledge.
