At the completion of fellowship, fellows are eligible to take both the Pulmonary Medicine and the Critical Care Medicine board examinations by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
The Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship Program at the University of Virginia is a three-year program that provides a strong background in clinical pulmonary medicine and the management of critically ill patients. At least 12 months of research experience is provided in the fellowship in the clinical research track.
A second 18-month research experience is offered for interested fellows in the academic research track. The research may be in either clinical or basic science areas.
