Brendan has had an interesting background and a different pathway to medicine. He  received  a Bachelor of Business Administration at James Madison University and immediately following, entered employment with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC in Fairfax, VA. There he attained the position of Senior Consultant. In this capacity, he performed management consulting for various Fortune 500 and federal government clients focusing on information technology, process improvement and business strategy.

Following completion of his medical degree at the University of Maryland, he spent his post graduate training in Medicine at the University of Virginia. He enjoys teaching medical students, house staff and, in turn, learning from these same colleagues. Brendan's prior experience provides a  skill set of flexible problem solving and strategy that is equally useful to the Division of Nephrology as it has proven in business and government. He looks forward to applying these “nontraditional” skills in any way that would be helpful to the Division.

Dr. Bowman's clinical activities will be in the area of general nephrology. He will provide care at UVA Orange Dialysis and Orange Clinic  as well as Piedmont Nephrology and Martha Jefferson Hospital.  Dr. Bowman will also attend on general medicine and consult service at UVA.
