Mark Okusa, MD: Awarded new NIH R21 grant beginning 04/26/2012

Dr. Mark Okusa, John C. Buchanan Distinguished Professor of Medicine, was recently awarded a National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Diabetic and Digestive and Kidney Diseases R21 award for his project entitled “Nanotherapeutics for acute kidney injury”. This exploratory multi-PI award, with Dr. Alexander Klibanov of the Department of Medicine’s Cardiovascular Division, will investigate the use of a novel drug carrier system utilizing ultrasound-stimulated drug delivery from drug-loaded nanoparticles to treat acute kidney injury. This award provides $423,500 in funding for two years.
