The Cancer Center at the University of Virginia seeks multiple Research Scientist positions to work in the laboratory of Dr. Thomas Loughran. The incumbent(s) join an interactive group of motivated scientists to study the pathogenesis and treatment of hematologic malignancies with a focus on large granular lymphocytic (LGL) leukemia and acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).

Candidates must have a PhD or MD degree in hand by appointment start date. Demonstrated expertise in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology and genome analysis, cell signaling, sphingolipid metabolism and/or experimental therapeutic development is required. Successful candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills.

Assistant Professor of Medicine

The Department of Medicine Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for a tenure-ineligible clinical faculty position focused in Hematologic Malignancies. The incumbent will develop independent clinical trial programs utilizing the excellent translational research opportunities and resources available at the University. Additionally, the incumbent will attend inpatient and outpatient services and participate in multidisciplinary team care and clinical research within the Cancer Center. As an integral part of the educational mission, the incumbent will actively participate in the teaching of fellows, residents and medical students.

Candidates must have an MD, be board-certified and/or board-eligible in Internal Medicine and Hematology. Board certification or board eligibility in Medical Oncology is preferred. Expertise in the care of patients with malignant hematologic disorders is required.


Assistant/Associate Professor of Medicine

The Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Virginia, seeks multiple candidates for a tenure-eligible Assistant or Associate Professor position in its Stem Cell Transplant Program. The program currently includes 4 faculty and 30 staff coordinating 120 procedures annually. Research faculty are housed in the Carter-Harrison Research building within walking distance of University of Virginia's state-of-the-art Cancer Center and inpatient units. Rank will be contingent upon experience.

The incumbent with a track record in research with strong translational components in normal/malignant hematopoieis and immunobiology of relevance to allogeneic transplantation is preferred. Additionally, the incumbent will integrate novel translational studies within the Stem Cell Transplant Program's research focus on umbilical cord blood allogeneic engraftment in adult patients, UCB hematopoietic stem cell regulation, and neonatal immunology.

Candidates must have an MD or MD/PhD and be board certified or board eligible in Hematology/Oncology.
