The Mindfulness Center is pleased to combine the existing strengths of the School of Medicine to advance investigation into the benefits of Mindfulness on a broad spectrum of conditions.

Mindfulness Center physician, Dr. Matt Goodman, recently completed a research study in Mindfulness and Pain Management.

"A Pilot Study Evaluation Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Massage for the Management of Chronic Pain," began in 2002. Authored by Margaret Plews-Ogan, MD, Matthew Goodman, MD, Justine E. Owens, PhD, Pamela Wolfe, PhD, and John Schorling, MD, it was funded by an HRSA grant with supplemental funding from the Kluge Grant. An abstract of the study was presented at the National Society of General Internal Medicine meeting in Chicago in May of 2004 and was published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine  in September of 2005.
