Welcome from the Chief

Mo Nadkarni

UVA Division of General, Geriatric, Palliative Care and Hospital Medicine is committed to excellence in care that improves the health of adults throughout their lifespan.

Providing the bedrock of medical education for School of Medicine students and residents in Internal Medicine, the Division is also shaping the conversation on issues in academic medicine and healthcare generally through a variety of programs and initiatives, including Schwartz Center Rounds, the Mindfulness Center, and the Center for Appreciative Practice.

The Division is comprised of more than 60 faculty members and four clinical service sections, including thriving primary care practices and a rapidly expanding program in hospital medicine. Geriatrics faculty have well-established community-based practices in the Charlottesville area that provide outpatient, long-term, and home-based care; and palliative care faculty, who have garnered national recognition for their work, provide end-of-life care and education at UVA Hospital and the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center.

We invite you to explore our website to learn more. View our 2014 annual report for a more in-depth look at the division's recent activities.
