The Department of Medicine's Division of General Medicine, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care at the University of Virginia seeks faculty candidates interested in serving as Medical Directors. These two tenure-ineligible positions will oversee the Hospital Medicine programs; one located at the UVa Medical Center and the other at the 40-bed Transitional Care Hospital (LTACH), a long-term acute care facility. In addition to providing direct clinical care, the Medical Directors at each site will be expected to supervise physicians managing the care of acutely ill medical patients as well as implementing quality and performance improvement initiatives. Rank and compensation are contingent upon experience.

Candidates must have an MD, be board-certified in Internal Medicine, and have a minimum of three years of experience as a hospitalist. Leadership experience is preferred. For the Transition Care Hospital position, is highly desirable.

 


Health System/Transition Care Hospital: Assistant/Associate/Professor of Medicine

The Department of Medicine, Division of General Medicine, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care at the University of Virginia, seeks candidates for multiple tenure-ineligible Hospitalist positions at the University of Virginia.

The incumbent will work at the University of Virginia Health System and/or our 40-bed Transition Care Hospital, a Long Term Acute Care Hospital. Duties include admitting and managing acutely ill medical patients on the 24/7 Hospitalist Service and/or the General Medicine Teaching Service, staffing the Orthopedic Co-Management Service and providing medical consultation on other surgical patients as requested. Duties also include developing quality improvement and patient safety initiatives designed to improve clinical outcomes and reduce complications. Opportunities exist for participation in ongoing educational activities involving medical students and residents.

Candidates must have a MD and be board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine by appointment start date. Experience as a Hospitalist is preferred by not required. The tenure-ineligible faculty position is designed for physicians focused on quality clinical care including active participation in clinical research and outstanding teaching.
