The University of Virginia Department of Medicine, Division of General Medicine, Geriatrics and Palliative Care seeks an Assistant Professor of Geriatric Medicine. This tenure-ineligible faculty position joins a dynamic, growing academic practice. The selected candidate develops a clinical practice that includes seeing patients in the geriatric outpatient clinic, on inpatient consult services and in area nursing homes. Teaching responsibilities include training of fellows, residents and medical students in both didactic and clinical sessions.

The incumbent establishes the foundation on which to build a Center of Aging within the School of Medicine. In addition to leadership responsibilities, duties include the development of a clinical practice and the training of fellows, residents and medical students in both didactic and clinical sessions.

Candidates must have a MD and be board-certified in Geriatric Medicine. Candidates should have at least five years of academic medicine experience and a demonstrated history of leadership. To be considered for the tenured position, candidates should have an interest in a balanced career of clinical care, clinical research and teaching.
