The Department of Medicine, Division of General Medicine, Geriatrics and Palliative Care at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for a tenure-ineligible General Medicine clinical faculty position for a group practice located in Charlottesville. This is a very popular and well respected physician practice which draws many university employees as patients and has a reputation for providing outstanding care. Rank and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The incumbent’s responsibilities will include outpatient clinical practice, supervision and teaching of medical students and residents, and can include attending on the general medicine inpatient service if desired.
Candidates must have an MD and be board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine. This tenure-ineligible faculty position joins an existing group of Internal Medicine practitioners focused on providing general medical care to a rural community. Responsibilities will include: diagnosis and management of common medical conditions as well as health maintenance and disease prevention; supervision and teaching of medical residents during their primary care blocks or ambulatory medical rotations; and teaching of medical students during their clinical medical rotations. The selected candidate would also be expected to quickly develop a mature practice from the expanding population in our service area (Culpeper, Fredericksburg and Gordonsville). Attending on the general medicine inpatient unit at the University of Virginia Health System 2 to 4 weeks per year is an option for the interested provider.
