Virginia Center for Diabetes Prevention & Education
To improve the quality and accessibility of care for persons in Virginia with diabetes, by providing educational programs and resources for diabetes educators, based on current research and best practices.
VCDPE has been a unique resource for providers of diabetes care in Virginia since 1987. Affiliated with the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, the VCDPE's programs and resources benefit healthcare providers throughout the Commonwealth. Its multidisciplinary staff--J. Terry Saunders, PhD (psychology) and Joyce Green Pastors, RD, MS, CDE (nutrition and diabetes education)--bring broad perspective to the Center’s educational programs and services.
