Medicine Nutrition Support Team

In keeping with the Digestive Health Center of Excellence's ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive care, we offer GI and Nutrition Support services. Dietitians work together with physicians to develop nutrition therapy plans and provide nutrition counseling and education for patients with digestive disorders. The team specializes in the development and delivery of individualized nutrition therapy in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Outpatient Nutrition Clinic

In our outpatient Nutrition Clinic, dietitians work with physicians to provide nutrition therapy and education for patients with conditions including the following:

Celiac disease Ostomy & hydration management
Enteral tube feeding management Pancreatic insufficiency
Evaluation for nutrition support Pancreatitis with PEG-J or weight loss
Failure to thrive Parenteral Nutrition management
Gastrectomies Radiation enteritis
Gastroparesis Short bowel syndrome
Malabsorptive Disorders
Malnutrition from any cause

 

Inpatient Services

A physician plus nutrition support specialists provide recommendations for enteral tube feedings and parenteral nutrition for patients with malnutrition, malabsorption, metabolic disorders and critical illness. Patients are evaluated for the source of their malnutrition and assessed for specific nutrient deficiencies. The multidisciplinary team also provides state-of-the-art care to all enteral access for difficult-to-nourish patients who previously required parenteral nutrition.
