The Digestive Health Center of Excellence (DHCoE) Inpatient staff is a multi-disciplinary team offering the best in both medical and surgical specialty care. We combine the broad expertise of our nurses and physicians with services such as pain management, social work, physical therapy and nutrition. The integration of our services means shorter hospitalization and the best available care for your patient.

Transferring & Admitting a Patient to UVA Hospital

Contact a specific DHCoE physician by calling 800-552-3723. If you do not have a physician preference, call 434-924-0000 and ask to be connected to the GI Fellow on call.

The DHCoE physician or GI Fellow will facilitate patient transfer through the Bed Coordination Center. When a bed is available, the referring physician will be notified. If a waiting list exists, the Bed Coordination Center will communicate daily with the referring physician to update transfer status.

Provide the following information:

• patient name
• patient address
• date of birth
• home phone
• work phone
• insurance provider and policy number
• name of physician requesting transfer
• hospital name and phone number of unit from which patient is being transferred.
