The Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Virginia, seeks candidates for tenure-ineligible or tenure-eligible Assistant Professor positions. This clinical faculty position will join an active Gastroenterology Digestive Health Center. The incumbent will have clinical, teaching, research duties as well as responsibilities in general Gastroenterology. Weekly clinical duties typically include: seeing patients in the general gastroenterology clinic and performing outpatient and inpatient procedures. Teaching responsibilities entail teaching endoscopic procedures to fellows, the education of fellows, residents, and students in the ambulatory clinic setting and on the inpatient service, and mentoring of students in the Introduction of Medicine course. Research is pursued in the areas of gastroenterology, and the incumbent is expected to seek independent grant support for these activities. Salary and tenure status dependent upon qualifications.

Candidate must have an MD or equivalent degree and must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by appointment start date. The tenure-eligible faculty position is designed for physicians with an interest in a balanced career of clinical care, research and teaching. The tenure-ineligible faculty position is designed for physicians focused on quality clinical care and outstanding teaching. Tenure-ineligible positions may qualify to convert to tenure-track at an appropriate time in the future, consistent with School of Medicine promotion, tenure guidelines and candidate qualifications.

Assistant/Associate Professor of Medicine

The Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for a tenure-eligible Assistant or Associate Professor of Medicine Interventional Endoscopist. The incumbent fulfills clinical, teaching and research duties and responsibilities. The focus of weekly clinical duties includes caring for patients in pancreaticobiliary and interventional endoscopy clinic and performing inpatient and outpatient interventional endoscopies. Teaching responsibilities include educating fellows on endoscopic procedures, as well as teaching fellows, residents and students in the ambulatory clinic and inpatient services. Rank will be dependent upon qualifications.

Candidates must have a MD or equivalent degree and must be board-eligible or board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology or its foreign equivalent. Research experience in clinical or experimental endoscopy with advanced fellowship training in ERCP and five years or more of clinical experience in an academic center are also required. The selected candidate must have a commitment to clinical excellence, teaching and research.
